Choosing Laminated PVC Foam Board
When customers ask about laminated PVC foam board, the first question is often the price. In practice, we need to confirm the application before quoting. A board used for a bathroom cabinet may need a different thickness and density from one used as a decorative wall panel.
The surface design is important, but the PVC foam core, furniture hardware and processing method also need to be considered.
Where Will the Board Be Used?
Laminated PVC foam board is mainly used for kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, shelves and interior decoration. Its PVC core does not swell like MDF after contact with water, so it is a practical option for kitchens, bathrooms and other humid areas.
This does not mean that every furniture part should use the same specification. Cabinet doors fitted with hinges, loaded shelves and light decorative panels have different requirements. Before recommending a board, we normally ask where it will be used and how it will be fixed.
If a decorative surface is not required, customers can also consider our PVC foam board for cabinets.
Common Thicknesses for Furniture
For furniture production, 12 mm, 15 mm and 18 mm are common choices.
| Thickness | Common Applications |
|---|---|
| 10–12 mm | Internal partitions, drawer parts and light decorative panels |
| 15 mm | Cabinet panels, wardrobe divisions and general furniture parts |
| 18 mm | Cabinet carcasses, doors and shelves requiring better rigidity |
This table is only a general reference. Large shelves, heavy loads and special furniture structures should be checked separately. Choosing a thicker board does not automatically solve every problem; density and supporting structure matter as well.
Density Should Match the Hardware
A density of 0.55–0.65 g/cm³ is often selected for furniture. If hinges or screws will be fixed directly into the board, a higher density may provide better screw holding. We suggest testing the actual screws and hardware before placing a large order.
For furniture that needs a firm surface and good rigidity, PVC Celuka foam board is commonly used as the core board. Other structures can also be discussed according to the surface finish and processing requirements.
How to Confirm the Surface Film
Wood grain and solid colors are the most frequently requested finishes. Marble-look patterns, matte surfaces and glossy surfaces are also available, depending on the selected film.
A PDF catalog is useful for checking available designs, but the color shown on a phone or computer may not be exactly the same as the actual film. If a customer needs to match an existing cabinet panel or a specific local color, it is better to send us a physical sample.
The sample allows us to check the color, texture, thickness and film material. It also helps us calculate the lamination cost more accurately.
MOQ depends largely on whether the selected film is already available. More details can be found in our article about laminated PVC foam board price and MOQ.
Processing Before Mass Production
The board can be cut, drilled, routed and processed by CNC equipment. Single-side and double-side lamination are both available.
Customers changing from MDF or plywood should test their cutting tools, adhesives, edge treatment, screws and hinges with the PVC board first. Some machine settings and fastening methods may need to be adjusted. A small test is usually more useful than selecting a specification based only on density.
What We Need for a Quotation
When sending an inquiry, please tell us the board thickness, size, density, selected film, lamination side and order quantity. It is also helpful to include the final application and destination port.
Our standard sheet size is 1220 × 2440 mm. Other sheet sizes, custom lengths, densities and core colors can be checked according to the order.
See our laminated PVC foam board page for specifications, available finishes and furniture applications.
