PVC Foam Board for African Markets
When we speak with customers in Africa, we find that PVC foam board is purchased for very different uses. Some customers supply sheets to advertising workshops, while others sell to furniture factories, cabinet makers or interior contractors.
This is why we normally ask about the application before recommending a density or giving a final quotation. A lightweight advertising sheet and an 18mm cabinet board should not be produced to the same standard.
Different Product Names in African Markets
PVC foam board is sold under different names across Africa. Importers may use English, French, Portuguese or Arabic terms depending on the country and local trading habits.
English Product Names
In English-speaking markets, customers may search for PVC foam board, PVC foam sheet, expanded PVC sheet, Foamex board, Forex board or PVC board for signage.
For furniture applications, common terms include PVC board for furniture, PVC cabinet board, waterproof furniture board and PVC foam board for cabinets.
French Product Names
In French-speaking African markets, buyers may search for panneau mousse PVC, plaque PVC expansé, panneau PVC expansé, Forex PVC or plaque PVC pour signalétique.
Furniture and cabinet buyers may also use panneau PVC pour meuble, panneau PVC pour cuisine or panneau PVC pour fabrication de meubles.
Portuguese Product Names
Customers in Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde and other Portuguese-speaking markets may use placa de espuma de PVC, placa de PVC expandido, chapa de PVC expandido or placa de PVC para publicidade.
For furniture materials, useful terms include placa de PVC para móveis and placa de PVC para armários.
Arabic Product Names
In Arabic-speaking markets, buyers may use ألواح الفوم PVC, ألواح PVC الرغوية, ألواح PVC للإعلانات or ألواح PVC للأثاث.
Although the names are different, buyers are usually looking for a lightweight and rigid PVC sheet that can be printed, cut, drilled or processed by CNC.
PVC Foam Board for Advertising
Advertising suppliers normally pay attention to surface smoothness, printing quality, sheet weight and price. PVC foam board can be used for indoor signs, display panels, photo mounting, vinyl application, exhibition boards and shop advertising.

PVC Foam Board for Furniture
Furniture production requires a stronger board structure. Cabinet makers normally care about rigidity, board core hardness, screw fixing and CNC edge quality.
PVC foam board can be used for:

- Shelves and partitions
- Shop furniture
- Storage units
- Interior furniture panels
For furniture production, 12mm, 15mm and 18mm sheets are commonly selected. A density of 0.55–0.65g/cm³ works for many cabinet structures. Parts that require stronger hinge or screw fixing may need approximately 0.65–0.70g/cm³.

Use in Humid Interior Areas
Moisture is an important consideration in coastal cities and other humid locations. If water reaches the core of MDF or some wood-based panels, the material may swell or lose strength.
PVC foam board does not absorb water in the same way. It is also not affected by termites or wood rot. This makes it a practical material for bathroom cabinets, kitchen storage, laundry cabinets and commercial interiors where moisture resistance is important.
It is not necessary to treat PVC foam board as a replacement for every wood panel. The right material still depends on the structure, expected load, budget and required surface finish.
Which PVC Foam Board Should You Choose?
PVC Free Foam Board
PVC free foam board is commonly supplied to advertising and printing customers. Popular thicknesses include 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm.
It is lightweight and easy to cut, print and mount. Density can be adjusted according to printing quality, panel size and the buyer's target price.
PVC Celuka Foam Board
PVC Celuka foam board has a firmer outer surface and a stable foamed core. It is normally a better choice for furniture, cabinets, shelves, partitions and CNC-processed components.
When the board needs better screw holding or greater rigidity, a higher-density Celuka board is generally more suitable than a lightweight advertising board.
PVC Co-Extruded Foam Board
PVC co-extruded foam board has a hard outer layer and a foamed inner core. Customers normally choose it when they need a brighter surface, better surface hardness or improved scratch resistance.

PVC foam board is lightweight, but the sheet edges and surfaces can still be damaged during container loading, unloading or inland transportation.
