From Cabinet Drawing To Board Sample: What We Check Before Quoting

A request for "PVC cabinet board" gives us a starting point, but it does not tell us whether the sheet will become a hinged door, a long shelf or a supported cabinet back. Those parts place different demands on the board and may call for different thicknesses. At Kaichuang, I ask for the component drawing before settling on a PVC foam board specification for a new cabinet project. It usually saves another round of samples and a quotation based on the wrong material.

Start with a part list, not a single thickness

A useful enquiry identifies each part by finished size, quantity, visible face and function. Mark any door that carries hinges, any shelf with a long unsupported span, and any panel that will be routed or laminated. For a bathroom vanity, show where the sink, plumbing cut-outs, joints and fixing points will be. The drawing need not be a polished CAD file: a dimensioned sketch and clear photos can start the discussion.

Visible faces, cut edges and finish	White Celuka board, a co-extruded face or a decorative film are different finish decisions.

Agree what the sample must prove

For a routed door, include the deepest groove and narrowest remaining section in the test piece. For a hinge-bearing part, drill at the planned edge distance with the actual pilot hole and screw. For a shelf, test the intended clear span, supports and expected contents. These checks are more informative than asking for a density number alone. Turn approval into a repeatable order

Once the sample is accepted, the purchase specification should identify sheet dimensions, nominal thickness, agreed density or weight target, board construction, color or surface, quantity for each item, packing method and any required inspection or finish criteria. If a customer needs more than one density or thickness, we list each item separately instead of treating a mixed container as one grade. The loading plan then follows the confirmed mix and packing.

Regular sheets are 1220 × 2440 mm, with larger sizes available for suitable orders. Standard plastic-bag packing is included in our regular quotation; carton or pallet packing is quoted separately. A 10 × 15 cm regular sample is free, with courier cost paid by the buyer. If the part requires a machining or fitting trial, tell me the sample dimensions before I arrange it.
